Groundhog Technologies is proud to announce the world’s first successful launch of Fifth Generation New Radio (5G NR) Geolocation solution – CovMo™ 5G for one of the leading telecom group companies.

With the mission of empowering networks through mobility intelligence, Groundhog Technologies has evolved to help mobile operators to handle 5G technology complexity and meet the the need for subscriber-centric management network. Following the 5G requirements and scenarios defined by the 3GPP (The 3rd Generation Partnership Project), CovMo™ 5G is again proven to be the most advanced, integrated multi-vendor, and open RAN architecture supported geolocation platform.

Fully equipped to reveal a wide range of 5G KPIs for three primary scenarios; including, enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communications (URLLC), and massive Machine Type Communications (mMTC) [1]. CovMo™ 5G allows operators to continuously monitor and analyze 5G network performance as well as optimize it during the growth phase to deliver a superior customer experience. The CovMo™ 5G release supports NSA (non-standalone) deployment and soon will also support SA (standalone) deployment.

The expansion and upgrade of CovMo™ allows operators to manage 5G-specific use cases including massive MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) selection, beamforming analysis, 4G/5G system interworking, dynamic Carrier Aggregation (CA) spanning multiple bands, etc. Other popular use cases that are widely-used in other technologies, such as hotspot detection, traffic management, frequency band analysis, interference analysis, device differentiation and call flow diagram [2] are also upgraded for 5G use. With the new CovMo™ 5G rollouts, operators are armed to ensure wide coverage, reduced infrastructure, cost-based planning, and optimization.

The next generation of wireless networks promises faster data speeds, lower communication latency, and greater connectivity for IoT devices. This obviously makes 5G a game-changer in every industry vertical. By leveraging CovMo™ 5G, operators are able to seamlessly plan, deploy, and manage 5G services with location intelligence. The new playground of 5G is expected to bring monumental change. Groundhog Technologies looks forward to many more exciting use cases in a world where faster wireless internet is everywhere and for everything.

About Groundhog Technologies

Groundhog Technologies is the leading provider of Mobility Intelligence. Our solutions can reveal the locations, Quality of Experience (QoE), context, and lifestyles of all mobile users in the operator’s entire network 24×7. This carrier-grade platform continuously transforms billions of daily network events and petabytes of data into ubiquitous intelligence. This invaluable knowledge empowers our partners to improve services and generate new revenue streams by enabling various applications for Geo-CEM, Geo-Analytics, and Geo-Targeting. Since 2001, Groundhog Technologies has been helping the foremost operators in the world to maximize their network and business potential.

  1.  eMBB is the first commercial 5G service to launch as an extension to existing 4G broadband, enabling faster data speeds. The latter two scenarios for URLLC and mMTC mostly support massive, simultaneous connections of smart devices, relating to IoT as the second and the third phase and will happen later this year. CovMo™ 5G will continue to evolve with the ongoing rollout of commercial 5G services and upgrade with the explosive increase in mobile traffic and the diversified use cases.
  2. In 5G call flow analysis, CovMo reveals L3 signaling exchange between 5G NR Cell and LTE master cell.
