T-Mobile Deutschland and Groundhog Technologies completed Mobility-Base Optimization  solution (MBO) deployment.

2005.01.07

Cambridge, MA. January 7, 2005.   T-Mobile Deutschland and Groundhog Technologies recently announced the successful completion of Groundhog's Mobility-Base Optimization  solution (MBO) deployed on the carriers North Munich network.   MBO is the world's first mobility based optimization solution that delivers best of class results for optimizing network configurations such as registration areas, timers, and parameters with actual subscribers' mobility; based on mathematical modeling, AI, andchaos theory.

Groundhog's technology proved that its solution provided a very cost effective way to reduce network bottlenecks without having to add additional network equipment.Given the increasing usage of SMS/MMS and other data intensive applications, T-Mobile Deutschland is committed to maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and network quality and are always looking at new ways to increase network efficiency and capacity. Groundhog Technologies MBO solution has proven it can help operators achieve this goal.

T-Mobile Deutschland is one of the most successful mobile phone operators in Europe and has the largest GSM network on the continent. T-Mobile is a wholly owned subsidiary of T-Mobile International AG & Co. and employs ca. 8,200 people (as of September 2004) in one of the mostdynamic growth markets in Germany. With 27.4 million customers at the end of September 2004 (a year-on-year increase of seven percent), T-Mobile is the market leader in Germany. The company is a leader in the development and implementation of new offers for mobile multimedia features for voice and data communication on the base of technologies such as GPRS, UMTS and WLAN.

As a spin-off from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA, Groundhog Technologies (www.ghtinc.com) has developed sophisticated mathematical modeling technologies using realistic modeling systems to describe and leverage the mobility and traffic patterns of wireless networks from a temporal (time) and spatial (geographical) level. This data provides deep insight for  performing wireless network optimizations to reduce equipment loading and failure rate. Groundhog Technologies has optimized some of the world's busiest networks, saving operators millions of dollars, improving network performance, increasing subscribers' satisfaction, and in some instances materially increasing revenues.
